The '''Kingdom of Jero''' is an enclave nation state made up of parts of former Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada. It is surrounded by the states of [[California]], [[Cascadia]], and [[Dakota]]. The kingdom actually predates the [[Federation of New American States]] by several months, which is why the New Federation was never able to claim its territory. The kingdom is a monarchy, with its head of state being King [[Matthias Jerome]]. Unliked the [[Republic of Texas]], it does not have an embassy in [[Philadelphia]].

==History==
The former United States government attempted to maintain control throughout the chaos that ensued from the incidents that brought about the destruction of civilization, but the country erupted into a state of unrest. Even with the institution of martial law, people were dying too quickly from the spread of the [[Vanthavirus]]. Once the dust began to settle, the surviving members of the former government convened in Philadelphia (because Washington, DC had been destroyed) to attempt a plan to reinstate the government as soon as possible. Their priority was to establish a new Constitution and rally any remaining forces from the military to prevent any attempts at invasion on homeland soil. Senator [[Rodney Sterling]] was nominated to serve as interim president until official voting could be done. Once the borders and seas were considered somewhat secure, the new government established 11 states and prioritized establishing a military presence in each state to establish safe zones and reinstate basic services. They currently have limited internet, radio communication, air transportation, some electricity, and fuel refineries. They also began production of a new currency in the form of coins, which are unofficially called [[quibs]].

==Controversy and Conflict==
The Kingdom is currently at war with the New Federation, which viewed the Kingdom as a threat to national security shortly after its formation. King Matthias initially had no quarrel with the Federation, but he formally declared war when the Federation attempted a hostile invasion of his territory. The State of [[California]] is the site of most of the fighting, where the borders clash constantly with one another. [[Cascadia]] and [[Dakota]] also see some action, but they do not have the same number of dedicated forces.

+The original flag of the Kingdom of Jero, which was designed by Jerome himself, featured a similar Union Jack style design to the United Kingdom in the colors of the Gadsden Flag. This design in particular proved to be suboptimal for members of the King's Army when wearing subdued flag patches in uniform, as it was indistinguishable from the UK flag. A redesign was ordered, which was done by an actual artist, and this new flag featured the same coloration, but with four stripes, a stallion on a shield, a crown, and a laurel wreath.

This group was heavily armed and full of preppers, so many managed to survive in the [[Aftermath]].
